Gas Station Disco is an indie-pop band out of Pottsville, PA.
The group’s music is uplifting, roomy and open, not unlike artists the likes of The Fray or The Temper Trap: What does this mean? Appealing melodies and crisp production, but with a gritty rock edge. Their latest EP, Dance Floored, is a great snapshot of the band’s way to channel different influence into a personal sound.

Unfolding through 6 tracks, the EP immediately starts with the arena rock vibes of “All That I Am”, a track that does a great job portraying the spirit of Gas Station Disco in just a little over 3 minutes. Things slow down a little bit on “A haunting affair”. The song strikes for its fascinating acoustic guitar patterns and intimate atmosphere, lyrically and musically. This might be my favourite track on the entire EP, because the band can seamlessly move from incredible minimal acoustic vibes to kick-ass rock and roll.
The main body of the EP’s flow includes “The right time” and “Brittany’s song”. We dive into college rock territory, where the band’s catchy melodies blend in with a punchier edge.
The band doesn’t mind a little bit of electronica: Dancefloor showcases the use of drum machines and auto-tuned vocals (not certainly for the singer’s lack of skills, but used as an instrument, to create a specific effect that suits the song).
Closing number “Fake” (featuring Kira Lee) is probably the most hard rocking track of the entire EP…truly an ending with fireworks!
